Associate Designer

As an associate designer at Hattery, you’ll also be responsible for supporting our internal teams and external clients. You’ll conceive and create successful designs that move the Hattery brand forward and deliver strong ROI on marketing campaigns. You’ll create collateral and messaging around Hattery’s events, and also take on client projects as needed.

SPECIFICS
- Design collateral and messaging for Hattery’s public programs, which may include print posters, online ads, email newsletters, and webpages and microsites
- Support different groups across Hattery: programs, marketing, and portfolio
- Support client projects, from early design research to execution of graphic identities and product mock-ups
- Work with the Hattery team to design and coordinate improvements to Hattery’s physical spaces, both large and small
- Share maintenance of Hattery’s day-to-day operations and office management
- Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions

SKILLS
- Passion for technology, design, the arts, culture, civic issues, and social good
- Graduate of a top university with a stellar academic record
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Obsession with details and beauty
- Equally adept at communicating through text, images, and mood boards
- Proven record of managing to a budget
- Bias to action—you identify problems, create solutions, and execute them on your own
- Flexibility and proven ability to take creative and client direction as a designer
- Ability to work across different media—print and digital, UI and UX, web and mobile
- History of building successful graphic and brand identities
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where roles and responsibilities can change quickly
- Strong sketching abilities
- Capable of both seeing the big picture and the small details
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, and Microsoft Office
- Comfort with HTML, CSS, and CMS platforms
- Experience editing video with Final Cut or Adobe software
- Strong aesthetic vision
- Consumer of media in all formats
- Ability to prioritize and work on several projects in parallel
- Balance between analytics and aesthetics when creating and assessing work
- Interest in design across different industries and forms
- You see problems in unfamiliar subjects—particularly technical, analytical, quantitative, and aesthetic ones—as learning opportunities to teach yourself something new

Events, Press, and Marketing Intern

As an events, press, and marketing intern at Hattery, you will be a key member of our small team and learn to develop marketing and press operations for the company’s growing programming series, Hattery Happenings.

If you’re creative, flexible, and want to learn, this is an opportunity to both work alongside experts and build responsibility over time.

SPECIFICS
- 20 hours per week on site in our SoMa office (regular hours, but flexible as to which days)
- You must be a current student at a top university who is eligible to receive academic credit for the internship
- No financial compensation
- Start date: yesterday
- Benefits include those extended to our resident companies, such as lunch made fresh daily by our in-house culinary team

SCOPE
- Press research
- Marketing operations, including social media and email campaigns
- Work alongside marketing director to learn about marketing strategy
- Event logistics and execution
- Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions
- Weekly structured learning opportunities

SKILLS

Research and Production Intern

As a production and research intern at Hattery, you will be a key member of our small team and learn about production and research for our growing programming series, Hattery Happenings.
